Feel free to comment with them down below! We hope these tips help you all & good luck to everyone with studying for their finals! xx KTG
( 1 ) "If you know there's going to be an essay portion on the exam, don't go in unprepared - create a short outline with a few bullet points to memorize instead of trying to memorize a whole essay you have to recreate during the exam." -Sister Audrey Paranka '14
( 2 ) "Try to organize your time wisely and figure out what exams need more time than others!" -Sister Ali Magee '16
( 3 ) "Don't go on Pinterest!!" -Sister Lexie Mayewski '16
( 4 ) "If you have a social media/pinterest issue, give your passwords to your Bigs (or friends) for the week so she can change it and keep you away!" -Sister Audrey Paranka '14
( 5 ) "I like to talk aloud when I am studying like I am giving a presentation! Helps a lot!" -Sister Rebecca Maggiacomo '14
( 6 ) "Go off campus as a study field trip. Since you made effort to go off campus, you'll feel more motivated to study, and it'll be a new and refreshing environment. Plus it's the perfect excuse to try a new coffee shop (that's not Starbucks)" -Sister Kelly Rodgers '16
( 7 ) "Try and compete with yourself to get work done! Set personal goals and reward yourself once you get there (like 5 min online for every chapter you read etc)" -Sister Nicole Voohris '17
( 8 ) "Group study! Make your own study guide then combine it with a friends! Get together and take the opportunity to teach them the material! If you can teach someone else you know the information!"
-Sister Christine Glynn '16
( 9 ) "Make an organized to do list, then set timers for yourself. For each thing you have to do, set aside the right amount of time for you to complete it! And remember to reward yourself with breaks!! I also love using the app 30/30, this really makes it easier for me!" -Sister Lindsey Whalen '16
( 10 ) "Don't just read and memorize. study and remember. after every major topic, summarize what you just studied out loud and see how much you have actually learned." -Sister Breanna Cerniglia '14
( 11 ) "Schedule your day according to what you want to study! It's always a huge accomplishment when I make a schedule/to-do list and stick to it. And it feels really damn good to check them off once they're done."
-Sister Caudia Montero '17
( 12 ) "There is a free computer download that is called "Self Control". You type in all the sites (such as Pinterest, FB, etc) and put in the amount of time you want, like 3 hours. During the allotted time, your computer cannot access those sites until the 3 hours are up! Pretty neat! It works really well!" -Sister Keren Ewell '16
( 13 ) "I always use the Cornell notes style when making study guides- you divide the paper into two sides, put the topic on one, and the details on the other. It keeps your thinking organized and it gives lots of opportunities for color coordinating" -Sister Emma Dodson '16
( 14 ) "Break up your studying and work so you don't look at a massive list and be logical with how much you can actually accomplish" -Sister Katie Curtin '16
( 15 ) "Flashcards! (Preferably neon, they're more fun anyway ) Not only do these help significantly, but you also are writing the information, which helps with muscle memory and retaining it. Sometimes if there are too many terms and you're crunched for time (more likely), use www.quizlet.com. It makes the flashcards for you and formulates quizzes/games! Additionally, I love to make study guides and color coordinate (people, terms, etc.) Highlight words/short phrases, but never sentences." -Sister Chrissy Russo '14
