Kappa's Abroad : Jessica Burns

1. Where are you studying abroad?  Rome, Italy  2. Why did you choose to study abroad in Rome?  I chose to study abroad in Rome due to the vast and diverse amount of architecture. I wanted to study the great architects of the ancient, renaissance, baroque and modern periods. The food was also another perk to Rome.  3. What was one of your favorite experiences of studying abroad?  On our ten day trip to northern Italy with my professors and classmates, we were given the opportunity to spend a day at Val’s Bath’s by Peter Zumthor. Previously, we studied this Bath house in our Modern History class. However, reading and studying compared to actually experiencing are two totally different things with architecture. The bath house is set up so that each room affects one of the senses. Creating my own path in the different spaces of water was one of the most amazing experiences. I never thought in a million years that I would be spending a day in Switzerland, surrounded by the views

1. Where are you studying abroad? Brisbane, Australia 2. Why did you choose to study abroad in Australia?  I chose to study here becuase I had heard so many great things about it and about how beautiful it was. Plus, it is really far away and not a lot of people have been here so it was something different. 3. What was one of your favorite experiences  of studying abroad? So far one of my favorite experiences was a hike that my friends and I did up Mt. Coot tha in Brisbane. It was really hard and steep, but once we got to the top it was amazing. We could see the whole city and it was unreal. Although, every experience that I have had so far has been amazing. Australia is so beautiful and filled with so many things to do.   4.   Any stories that you have to share?   One story I have to share is that my friend and I were going to her place after our night out because I was going to be staying over. She didn't have her key on her so we were waiting for her housemates to

1. Where are you studying abroad? Barcelona, Spain 2. Why did you choose to study abroad in Spain?  I wanted to study in a place that the majority of the people speak Spanish because that is my minor. Barcelona just made sense to me because I love the ocean and the whole city is on the water. Plus being in Europe I have the chance to travel around on the weekends to different cities and countries. 3. What was one of your favorite experiences  of studying abroad? One of my favorite experiences was actually the FC Barcelona soccer game I went to a few weeks ago! It sounds so simple, but I really loved it because I felt so at home and connected to the game. Seeing everyone so passionate about something so important to the Barcelona culture made me really feel like a Spaniard instead of just a tourist.   4.   Any stories that you have to share?  Nothing too exciting in particular but advice to everyone abroad: expect the unexpected! So many things have gone wrong with travel a
